Cytology/Histology Supervisor | Ameripath | Texarkana, TX
AmeriPath, Inc. is the nation's largest physician and laboratory company
focused on providing anatomic pathology, cancer diagnostic and
healthcare information services to physicians, hospitals, national
clinical laboratories and managed care organizations. The company
presently operates in 24 states and provides medical services through
outpatient pathology laboratories, hospital inpatient laboratories and
outpatient surgery centers.
Responsibilities for the Cytology/Histology Supervisor include:
- Develop and maintain current procedure and quality assurance manuals
for the Cytology and Histology in compliance with CLIA regulations.
Demonstrate diagnostic proficiency and understanding of current medical
terminology and CPT coding.
- Prepares microscopic slides from cell samples, and fixes and stains
slide to preserve specimen and enhance visibility of cells under the
microscrope.
- Conducts initial screeing of cells in accordace with the laboratory
and state and federal quality control procedures, assists in the
diagnosis, and reports abnormalities to the Pathologist.
- Maintains documentation of statistics, reviews follow-up reports,
and performs correlation studies to improve diagnostic abilities.
- Prepares quality assurance reports for presentation at monthly staff
meeting.
- Ensures that the billing personnel receive the necessary billing
information in a timely manner.
- Ensures that all speciments, slides, blocks, requisitions, and
reports are retained and stored in compliance with the Policy and
Procedure Manuals.
- Assists with marketing plans, sales and client service calls when
needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Clinical Training during Cytology School to include gynecologic and non-gynecologic interpretation.
- Ability to demonstrate to the Technical Supervisor a working knowledge of the histolgoy department and the experience to manage the technical duties of the employees.
- Licensure as a Cytotechnologist or ASCP Certification as a Cytotechnologist preferred
